Michael F. Moran
Michael F. Moran devotes his entire practice to the representation of victims of elder abuse and nursing home litigation. Mr. Moran has significant trial experience, having tried over 130 jury trials to verdict throughout California. He has over twenty-five years of experience as an attorney, including extensive experience as a civil defense trial attorney. He has also worked in the Orange County District Attorney's Office. In addition, Mr. Moran has obtained numerous million dollar verdicts and arbitration awards for elderly victims of abuse and neglect throughout the State of California and Settlements in excess of a million dollars and is a member of the exclusive Million Dollar Advocates Forum and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Mr. Moran is actively involved with the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR) in an effort to preserve and protect the rights of victims of elder abuse. He has served as a speaker on Elder Abuse issues for various community and professional organizations throughout the State of California, and has been a guest speaker on KRLA 870 regarding Elder Abuse issues. Further, in an effort to improve the quality of patient care in nursing homes, Mr. Moran has and continues to provide In-Service Education on quality care issues to the nurses, staff, and administration at nursing homes in Southern California, at no cost, in an effort to bring better nursing home care to our elders.
Mr. Moran has attained the highest possible rating of "AV" by Martindale Hubbell, the national directory of attorneys, for preeminent legal ability and ethics.
Mr. Moran holds a Juris Doctor Degree from Western State University School of Law and a Bachelor's Degree from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York. He is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Lisa Trinh Flint
Lisa Trinh Flint joined the firm as a Law Clerk in 2003 and became an associate with the firm in 2006 following her admission to the State Bar of California. Ms. Flint works closely with Mr. Moran in prosecuting Elder Abuse cases. She has second chaired in over 10 Jury Trials and Binding Arbitrations and obtained Judgments and Arbitration Awards for clients, and participated in over 30 Mediations resulting in successful outcomes for clients.
Ms. Flint's appellate experience in the area of Elder Abuse includes the published decision of Warfield v. Summerville (2007) 158 Cal.App.4th 443, where the California Court of Appeals held that a signatory's spousal status alone cannot bind his or her non-signatory spouse to arbitrate claims against a residential health care facility.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Flint served as a Law Clerk for the U.S. District Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia; Law Clerk to the Hon. Nho Trong Nguyen of the Orange County Superior Court; and Law Clerk in the California Attorney General's Office and Orange County District Attorney's Office.
Ms. Flint received her Juris Doctor Degree from Whittier College School of Law, where she served as the Managing Editor of the Whittier Law Review and published an article in the Whittier Law Journal entitled "Newdow v. U.S. Congress: One Nation Indivisible". Ms. Flint attained her Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Irvine.
Ms. Flint is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Ms. Flint is a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), Orange County Bar Association, Orange County Asian American Bar Association, Vietnamese American Bar Association, National Conference of Vietnamese American Attorneys (NCVAA), and California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR). Ms. Flint is conversant in Vietnamese.
David W. Loy

David Loy joined the Law Offices of Michael F. Moran in 2010. In his first year transitioning over to "the good side" he has been very successful in resolving several cases for the firm's clients. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Loy worked as an elder-abuse defense attorney for Beach Whitman Cowdrey, LLP, a prominent Elder Abuse defense firm based in Oxnard, California. His experience defending nursing homes brings valuable insight into the prosecution of Elder Abuse claims.
Mr. Loy graduated from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara. In law school, he was the recipient of the Anson Levitan Law School Grant and assisted impoverished individuals obtain health-care and disability benefits from public programs such as Medi-Cal, SSI and County Medical Services. He was also accepted into the law school's highly regarded California Innocence Project, where he worked as a certified student attorney investigating and researching claims of innocence by a number of incarcerated men and women, and spent a considerable amount of time volunteering at the St. Vincent De Paul homeless shelter, where he provided legal guidance to homeless men and women. In the year prior to law school, Mr. Loy was a volunteer with Americorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) where he was stationed in Selma, California, a small community in California's San Joaquin Valley, where he helped develop the city's geographic information system ("GIS") to help the community with land-use planning, business development and emergency preparedness.
Mr. Loy is admitted to the U.S. District Court- Southern District of California, U.S. District Court - Central District of California and is a proud supporter of the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform ("CANHR") . Notable published decisions in the area of Elder Abuse law in which Mr. Loy either worked on appeals or the underlying litigation include Flores v. Evergreen At San Diego, LLC (2007) 148 Cal.App.4th 581, and
Cotton v. StarCare Medical Group, Inc. (2010) 183 Cal.App.4th 437.
Mr. Loy lives in San Clemente, California with his beautiful wife Molly and their two dogs.
Karen M. Moran, BSN, RN
Karen M. Moran, B.S.N., R.N. joined the Law Offices of Michael F. Moran in 2009 as the firm's in-house legal nurse consultant. In her short time at the Law Offices of Michael F. Moran, she has assisted the attorneys with several high profile cases resulting in outstanding settlements and verdicts for our clients by applying her extensive nursing experience and medical knowledge to in-depth analysis of medical-legal issues and medical record reviews.
Ms. Moran's clinical background includes both medical-surgical in the acute care settings and home health nursing. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Niagara University in 1980, Ms. Moran worked as a surgical floor nurse at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, New York. In 1983, Ms. Moran moved to California and worked for the Visitor's Nurse Association of Orange County for 18 years first as a field nurse providing patient care, and then Clinical Manager for the last eight years of her career at the Visitor's Nurse Association.
From 2001-2009, Ms. Moran joined St. Joseph Home Health where she was a Clinical Manager and member of the Quality Assurance Utilization Review Committee.
